Piano Concerto Competition
The First Manchester International Concerto Competition For Young Pianists, August 14-17 2007.
Two categories:
16 and Under, and 22 and Under (as of 1st August 2007 )
Prizes

The semi finals will take place at Chetham’s School of Music on 14 & 15 August 2007
The finals, accompanied by Manchester Camerata, will take place in Manchester Cathedral on 16 and 17 August 2007, Conducted by Stephen Threlfall
The Jury will consist entirely of eminent international concert pianists including:
Philippe Cassard (France),
Peter Donohoe (UK),
Anton Kuerti (Canada),
Radoslav Kvapill (Czech),
Noriko Ogawa (Japan),
Bernard Roberts (UK),
Kathryn Stott (UK),
Martino Tirimo (Cyprus)
Howard Shelley (UK)
under the chairmanship of Murray McLachlan (UK).
Selection process: Participants should submit a recording (DVD or VHS Video), with accompaniment (either with full orchestra or second piano) of a complete concerto from the above repertoire lists. They should include two references with the recording from musicians of standing, at least one of which must include confirmation that the recording is unedited and the playing of the participant.
A maximum of twelve pianists from each age category
will be chosen to take part in the semi-finals, to be held in Whiteley Hall, Chetham’s School of Music, on August 14th and 15th 2007. Each semi-finalist will be required to play their complete concerto from memory.
