In the 16 and Under section, the jury were unanimous with the decision that all 3 finalists should be awarded the first prize equally. The performers all gave such exceptional performances that it was decided the only result could be an equal award.
The Chair, Murray McLachlan, announced that this result was in keeping with the ethos of the competition where celebration of achievement was of paramount importance.
In the 22 and Under section the 4 finalists gave very high level performances and Tudor Scripcariu was awarded the first prize for his performance of Beethoven's 3rd Piano Concero.
Manchester Camerata and conductor Stephen Threlfall gave magnificent support to all 7 performances.
