When is the closing date for first round entries?  The closing date for first round entries is June 4th 2017

When are the first round results announced?
The selected semifinalists will be notified via email by June 13th 2017. Full results will be published on the website.

When do I arrive?

Registration is from 14.00 on the 23rd August. If you are travelling from abroad and wish to stay the night before the administrator can provide the details for local hotels. It is not possible to stay in the school before the 23rd.

Can I use my own Accompanist?
Competitors are very welcome to bring along their own accompanists. The competition also provides professional accompanists for the semi-finals.

Do I have a practice room for the week?
With over 100 practice rooms everyone is given a room for the week and they are open from 6am to 11pm. Everyone shares a room and sorts out when to practise with each other.

Do I need to bring a copy of the music? Please bring a copy of your music for the jury.

Will I be able to rehearse in the concert hall? All semi-finalsist will be scheduled a rehearsal on the piano in the concert hall.

 Where do we sleep?

 Accommodation for the semi-finalists will be in dormitory style bedrooms at the school.

Is there family accommodation?
It may be possible to offer accommodation in the school for additional family members, subject to availability. Please contact the administrator for options. info@pianosummerschool.com

What clothes/towels etc do I need?

A bath and hand towel are provided, as is all bed linen. Dress code is informal throughout the day. For your concerto performance please dress smartly in clothes that you feel comfortable in. The dress code for the performers in the finals will be evening dress.

What can I take part in during the Chetham's Piano Course?
If you are selected as one of the sem-finalists you will automatically become a participant on the Chetham's International Summer School and Festival for Pianists. Every day there are over 30 outstanding pianists teaching around the school, and there are daily lectures and recitals. You will be able to observe all of these events free of charge. If you wish to book any piano lessons this is possible for a fee and subject to teacher availability.

Is food included during the competition?

Yes all food is included during your stay at Chetham's, if you are selected for the semi-final stage.

What happens if I am not selected for the finals?
Anyone from the semi-final stages not selected for the finals will be given the opportunity to play to either jury members or faculty on the Chetham's piano course for individual feedback on their performance. In addition all particiapnts will receive written reports from each member of the jury.

When do we leave?
The competition and summer school ends on the morning of the 29th August. There are morning recitals until 11.30 am given by participants on the course. Lunch is not provided on the last day.
